We just finished our first exchange with Judy and Willm and it was a wonderful experience. We had a very nice time at Christmas 2008 in their lovely home in Frome. The house was perfect for us, great location and beautiful views. We were so lucky to have our first exchange with an experienced couple. We got all the information we needed and the communication between us went very well. We really loved the place. We did not doubt for a second that we could trust this couple to take good care of our home, they left it exactly as we had left it and we would never have known someone had been in our house.
We have already arranged exchanges for 2009. We can only hope that all people on exchanges will be as nice, courteous, and respectful as Judy and Willm.

Roeland and Anna are the perfect hosts, even leaving beer and chocolate for us! Leuven is a beautiful destination, handy for Brussels but lovely enough in its own right for a great holiday.
The house is charming and the little garden just wonderful with a view of the town's historic library spire. On Christmas Eve we sat in the garden and listened to the bells play 'I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas' just a couple of hundred meters away: my husband and I both thought it was the most Christmassy thing we've even seen or heard!
Roeland and Anna left brilliant instructions for the use of their house, even down to how to use the heating and washing machine and a wealth of tourism information leaflets. If you go to their house, take notice of their recommendations for restaurants: we had an amazing Moroccan meal going on their suggestion and a terrible Chinese one by ignoring them!
There is nothing we would change about their house: it's absolutely lovely and so typical for continental Europe that it made a lovely change from England!
Thanks Roeland and Anna! We can't wait to come back.

We had a great stay in Rome and the apartment was absolutely lovely and very tastefully decorated (in fact, we used some of Nicoletta's ideas to live up our flat).
All the preparations were were perfect and we never encountered any problems at all.
Definately a contact that we can recommend.
Thanks again and best regards
Pascal & Martina

We did a non-simultaneous exchange with Imma Llopart's family that is always somehow more tricky than simultaneous and everything turns out very well. The family was very sweet and they left our apartment in excelent order. They washed everything and cleaned the flat that we did not even ask for so it was nice surprise for us. In terms of their apartment, it is very close to Barcelona. The apartment is in the 4th floor, it is spacious, there are three bedrooms where 6 people can sleep and the living/dining room. In the kitchen there is everything one may need. As well there is available stuff like sugar, salt, cafe etc. From the balcony you can see the sea that is approx. 300 meters far away. In the house where the apartment is situated is a swimming pool and also a nice place for resting. It is in a little city that is calm. It is not a huge touristy center that has obviously its advantages (it is not so crowded and it's more natural). If you go along the sea, there is a walk where are bars and restaurants. Close to the city is a huge shopping mall. Very close to this city (7 min.by train) is a bigger city, Sitges, that is very old and there are a lot of interesting places to see. We highly recommend Imma's family for exchange.

We experienced our first home exchange in November. We were a little nervous about taking the plunge but we are so glad that we did. We had a fantastic experience in a beautiful home in Bedford UK. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel more comfortable than the most expensive of hotels. The comprehensive guide put together by our fellow exchangers was very helpful and we enjoyed a wonderful relaxing time without resorting to the credit card. Many thanks to Home Exchange and our wonderful hosts.

We exchanged with a couple and their little daughter for the first time our French apartment for a London apartment. The experience was very possitive and wonderful. Our children appreciated particularly the 2 cats and the garden just behind the apartment. We had everything we needed and more! This home is well situated in the town with some shops and restaurant associated with calm.

This was our first exchange and we had a very friendly and nice contact with Mrs. Kariger. When we arrived everything was well prepared. We had a wonderful week on Menorca with nice beaches, a green landscape and still much nature, we only had not the best weather and so it was sometimes quite fresh.
The little apartment was very cosy and provides great views to the sea. The town of Ciudadela was our favourite place to go out, we liked it better than the Capital Mahon.
It`s a nice place to stay!

Lack of replies |

My wife & I have been house exchanging for over 10 years. In the early days, some folks did not even have internet and had to phone or write a letter, nearly everyone took the time for a polite reply.
Gradually the courtesy of a reply - even in the negative - have become less and less. Now I find you are lucky to get 10% of enquiries receive acknowledgement.
What a pity. If a person takes the time to contact you for an exchange surely you can spend a few minutes sending a few words in a reply?

We did our first ever home exchange with this couple, who have an apartment in the south of the Marais in central Paris. It was a great experience. The apartment was in a perfect position, just 10 mins walk from Place de Vosges to the North, and Ile de la Cite to the South. The apartment was very clean with good facilities - including a great DVD collection ! There was a bottle of wine and a present for our 2 year old daughter waiting when we arrived. They left our flat as clean and well-ordered as when we left it. Highly recommended for an exchange.

We have just returned (Nov/Dec 2008) from a wonderful exchange in The Lake District in Cumbria where we stayed in a beautiful Barn converstion. Everything was spotless and so comfortable. Could have easily stayed there for good!!!!! It was perfect.
The couple whose property it was were very friendly.
Anyone who gets an exchange in this lovely property and beautiful area will find it a real delight.
